This is a 4-way switch from Oak-Grigsby, the current supplier of lever switches to Fender for USA and Mexico production. The 4-way switch was made especially for Fender for use in Telecasters, to add another tonal option.

The wiring on most Teles since about 1967 has been this:
Position 3: Neck Pickup
Position 2: Both Pickups Wired in Parallel
Position 1: Bridge Pickup

The 4-way switch allows the pickups to also be wired in series:
Position 4: Both Pickups Wired in Series
Position 3: Neck Pickup
Position 2: Both Pickups Wired in Parallel
Position 1: Bridge Pickup

The above is the way Fender has typically wired the switch.

But we prefer wiring it this way:
Position 4: Neck Pickup
Position 3: Both Pickups Wired in Series
Position 2: Both Pickups Wired in Parallel
Position 1: Bridge Pickup

We think most longtime Tele players would prefer to have the forward position be the neck pickup by itself, and the rearward position be the bridge pickup by itself, in keeping with 50 years of Tele tradition. Sort of like anchors, with the combination settings in the middle. In any case, the switch can be wired either way. For Fender's version, use our TE-SS2 wiring diagram. For our version, use our TE-SS3 diagram.

Oak-Grigsby switches are made in Mexico.

4-way Tele Switch

Seems to be working, are there any Made in the United States, fender style 4 way switches?

No, afraid not. The company that made lever switches for Fender in the early years (CRL) still makes switches in the USA, in Raleigh, NC. But they don't offer a 4-way switch. The 4-way switch has always come from Oak-Grigsby, Fender started having them made nearly 30 years ago now, sometime in the 1990s. They've always been made by Oak-Grigsby, which manufactures switches in Mexico.
