Oak-Grigsby Lever Switch, 5-Way (2-Pole Superswitch)

Hi, sorry for the trouble! There's always a possibility that there's a problem with the switch, though having sold many thousands of these over the years we can say that we've had very few problems. Generally we find this issue has more to do with the way the switch is attached to the pickguard, where they are often hard against one side of the slot or the other, causing the switch positions to feel indistinct. It's friction that is the culprit, the switch's lever is literally rubbing against the edge of the slot. This can be a natural consequence of tightening the screws, they can pull the switch to one side or the other when they're tightened.

If this is the problem, the solution is to loosen the two screws (with the screws loose the switch will float in the slot, and the switch detents should feel distinct again), and then re-tighten with the switch held in the center of the slot as well as can be managed. Again, merely tightening the screws can make the switch want to move to one side or the other, but it can generally be held in place well enough while the screws are tightened to alleviate the friction problem and make it click into the positions with more authority.

Upon reading our comments above the customer notified us that he was aware of the problem we outlined and had mitigated against it. He felt that the switch was defective, so we replaced it with a new one.
