  • Country of Manufacture: USA
  • String Spacing: 2-1/16" (2.062" / 52.4mm)
  • Enhanced Vintage, w/ 10-32 Thread
  • Fits Fender Standard Stratocaster (arm required); Classic Player Strat (arm required); Highway 1 (2006 and later)

You cannot use a Standard or Classic Player tremolo arm with this block, you'll need to select a Callaham Virtual Pop-In Arm. You can use the stock arm for a 2006-and-later Highway 1 Strat, though a Callaham virtual pop-in arm is strongly recommended for best results.

All Callaham blocks are made of 1018 cold-rolled steel like the vintage originals, which contributes to the sustain and harmonic content that has made these guitars legendary. Replacing a block made of inferior materials (zinc, leaded steel, sintered steel) with one of Callaham's blocks will get you one step closer to those $30,000 originals. All have a precision-machined top surface that is free of paint to ensure solid metal-to-metal contact with the top plate, for optimal tone.

And all Callaham blocks come with a precision-reamed Delrin insert in the arm hole, allowing the tremolo arm to fit snugly and be free of play, without requiring a spring in the hole, as Fender's threaded blocks do. This gives you the best tremolo feel available, and no worries about losing springs (in case you're unaware of it, new Stratocasters ship with a round label over the arm hole in the tremolo - the label's purpose is to prevent the tiny spring from falling out and being lost). With Callaham's blocks, the need for a spring is eliminated.

Doesn’t Work For My Mexican Strat

I have a MIM Strat and the trem block broke awhile back, so I got this to fix that. Feels very high quality but it does not work for my MIM. The string spacing/nails on the trem block do not align. 2 stars instead of one for the high quality feel.

This customer made a fairly common mistake, which is to assume that all MIM (made in Mexico) guitars use the same bridge. They don't, Fender has produced all kinds of models over the years, and they are not consistent. The block in question here was designed for the Standard Stratocaster, which was a specific model made in Mexico from 1991 to 2017 (as of 2025, Fender is now making the 'Standard Stratocaster' again, but in Indonesia - it has a 2-post bridge). The Standard Stratocaster had a 2-1/16'' string spacing, like the American Standard Strat. But this customer's image shows that his guitar had the wider 2-7/32'' string spacing used in the vintage guitars, which is why his top plate seems so much wider than the block he ordered. This would indicate that his guitar was not a Standard Stratocaster, but some other Mexican-made model. The Road Worn Strat, for example used the wider vintage string spacing, as did the Classic Series '50s, '60s, '70s guitars, and a number of other models. If you're unsure about which block will fit your guitar, feel free to call us and we'll help you determine which you need.

Vintage Tone

The Callaham steel block fits the MIM bridge plate perfectly. It adds sustain and resonance especially when using vintage tension tremolo springs. Tone Shapers rocks! Great products and a excellent service.
