This kit includes everything you need to wire a Gibson Les Paul Standard, Custom, or Deluxe, or similar guitar, but with the addition of push/pull tone pots! When combined with 4-conductor pickups, push/pull pots will give you a number of really cool options for tonal flexibility. We include a professional, fully-illustrated wiring diagram that details three popular options, you can choose one of ours or go with an idea of your own.

Our PP02 push/pull pots are solder free, making the installation easier, and they have seven capacitor values built-in so you can select the one you like, dialing in each tone control to fit your needs! Each PP02 pot has a DPDT switch built in, so any wiring scheme that makes use of SPDT or DPDT switches can be wired using our push/pulls.

Our kit includes the finest components, from the same suppliers that Gibson has used for years:

  • (2) Pot, CTS 500k Audio, Low Torque (1/2" Bushing Length)
  • (2) Pot, CTS 500k Audio, PP02 Push/Pull, Low Torque (1/2" Bushing Length)
  • (2) Treble Bleed Kit for Humbuckers
  • (1) Jack, Switchcraft 1/4" Mono
  • (1) Switch, Switchcraft, 3-Way Toggle, Short Straight
  • 2' Wire, 22AWG Cotton Push Back w/ Tinned Overcoat, Black
  • 2' Wire, 22AWG Cotton Push Back w/ Tinned Overcoat, White
  • 2' Wire, 4-Conductor
  • 2' Wire, 22AWG Stranded Silver-Plated Copper, Black PTFE
  • 2' Wire, 22AWG Stranded Silver-Plated Copper, White PTFE
  • Professional, Fully-Illustrated Wiring Diagram

Additionally, we include a few accessories to make it easier to install your kit:

  • Laser-Cut Solder Template
  • (8) Lockwashers
  • (2) 6" White Wire, 26AWG
  • (2) 6" Black Wire, 26AWG
  • Screwdriver, Flat Miniature, for Wire Connections to Push/Pulls
  • Pointed Wooden Stick, For Manipulating DIP Switches

Les Paul wiring kits that include our push/pull pots come with a laser-cut wiring template, allowing you to wire your harness outside of the guitar. The template adds convenience as it's always easier to wire the circuit outside the guitar than inside. With our push/pulls it's even more useful, since it allows better screwdriver access to the terminal block screws on our push/pull pots.

Each of the four pots in this kit comes with two nuts, plus a lockwasher and a flat washer. Having two nuts allows you to have some control over how much of the pot's shaft protrudes from the face of the guitar, so you can adjust the knob height. But we also include two additional lockwashers per pot to allow you to really fine-tune this. You can stack two or three lockwashers rather than use the interior nut to get just the fit you're looking for no matter the guitar top's thickness.

Each push/pull pot comes with one 6" length of thin white wire and one of black. This 26AWG wire may be used to make jumpers between the slots on the push/pull pots. Depending on your wiring scheme, you may need to make multiple connections to a single slot, and the 22AWG wire that's typically used in guitar wiring may be too large for multiple pieces to fit into a single slot. The thinner wire we include will make the difference. And don't have any concern that the thinner wire will have a negative tonal consequence - it's far thicker than the 42AWG - 44AWG wire used in pickup coils.

Finally, we give you a little screwdriver that allows for easy connections to the pot's screw-down connectors, and a pointed wooden stick to make it easy to flip the little DIP switches on the unit.

Please note: knobs & switch tip are not included. There are just too many options - we sell 12 varieties of Gibson-style knobs sets. Each includes four knobs plus a Switchcraft switch tip. The knobs will fit the 24-tooth pots in this kit correctly, and the switch tip is the right part for the Switchcraft switch included in this kit. Gibson knobs & switch tips fit our parts properly, but imported knobs and switch tips don't. So if you have knobs/tip that came off an Epiphone or other imported guitar (Tokai, Burny, PRS CE, etc), then you're going to need knobs.
